Democratic Presidential Nominees: Stances on Climate Change Action Part 2

This article is a continuation of my previous blog post where I detailed where each democratic nominee stands on climate change. Since publishing part 1 of this article, Bill De Blaiso has since ended his 2020 race.

Please note: This article is not claiming that this is the only issue we should focus on in the presidential election. There are several others factors that must be considered with each candidate such as social justice, economic views, and other values. This article is just highlighting what is known about each candidate on their stance with addressing climate change.

Below is a brief summary of each candidate based on their support and work on addressing climate change through action. The Deep, [Plastic] Sea

There is no denying it: plastic is a people problem. Since the 1950’s, plastic has grown to encompass our lives, so much so that we don’t even realize the amount of plastic we consume on a daily basis. Did you get an iced coffee on your way to work today? Plastic. Did you buy a snack from the vending machine? Plastic. If you look at the tag on your clothing, does it say polyester? Plastic. It seems inescapable.

7 Eco-Work Essentials

When is comes to creating a more eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyle, many people do not think about the decisions they make in the workplace. Besides being home, a majority of our time is spent at work. The everyday choices we make in our work environment could have a bigger impact on the planet than we may think. This year I have begun to cultivate a more conscious work lifestyle, from how I get to work to what I eat during lunch. Here are my essentials for a more conscious, less wasteful work life: Continue reading “7 Eco-Work Essentials”

My Favorite Eco-Blogs

In case you haven’t noticed, I am a firm believer in an eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyle. While I’m not perfect, I have been working towards making more conscious choices in fashion, food, and everyday actions. Because this lifestyle has just started to receive some recognition, I definitely needed some help along the way. I took to Instagram to find accounts and blogs that would inspire me, give me tips, and help me become more educated on the subject. Here are my favorite people that I have learned from, and have helped me with my steps toward sustainability. Continue reading “My Favorite Eco-Blogs”

10 Ways You Can Make a Difference On Earth Day

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” -Margaret Mead

Happy Earth Day! One of my favorite things about this holiday is that it connects every person in the world. We all live on the same planet, which sadly many of us tend to forget. Earth Day is not only a day to bring awareness towards environmental protection and activism, but it is also a day to reflect on how far we have come. Steps Toward Sustainability: Reef Safe Sunscreen

IMG_2702As I return from my trip to Belize, I am reminded once again the importance of sunscreen. My skin is fair, and a short amount of time in the sun can cause me to become severely sunburn. As my friend laid out in the sun becoming a golden bronzed goddess, my time was spent cowering in the shade, a towel wrapped around my whole body and a big hat for good measure.

While sunscreen is an essential part of my daily routine on and off the beach, it is important to also note what is in our sunscreen. There are two types of sunscreen that can be used: mineral and chemical. The difference is in the ingredients. Continue reading “Steps Toward Sustainability: Reef Safe Sunscreen”

Travel Tuesday: Fiji

Happy Tuesday! Each month, I will feature a travel destination here on the blog, with highlights of each place as well as travel tips.

This week is a place that is very near and dear to my heart: Fiji, where I lived for six months. When it came to choosing where to study abroad in college, I doubt anyone thinks of Fiji. Most people don’t even know where it is (east of Australia, north of New Zealand. If you hit Hawaii you’ve gone too far haha). Continue reading “Travel Tuesday: Fiji”
