Gifts from Small Businesses

As most of us know, the past few months have hit small businesses incredibly hard. 20% of small businesses have closed in the past eight months, and a return to “normalcy” is not expected for years. A lot of these businesses are hoping that holiday gift giving can give their businesses a boost, and it is important for everyone to be mindful of where they are purchasing this year. Remember, Amazon and Target aren’t going anywhere, but your purchase at a small businesses means more to them than you know.

2020 Skincare Routine: Clean Beauty

A little over a year ago, I began to switch all of my products to a completely clean beauty routine. I did my research and prioritized brands who not only used high quality and clean ingredients, but also who used as little plastic packaging as possible. I’m a creature of habit, so when I find a product or brand that I works for me, I stick with it.

My Favorite Ethical Brands

Happy Wednesday, all! For the past year, I made it a goal to buy almost entirely secondhand or from ethical/eco-friendly brands. While buying secondhand is more cost effective, I personally find it difficult to find pieces that are high quality and fit me well. So unless there is an exact piece that I want and find, what has worked for me majority of the time is supporting ethical and eco-friendly brands.

Wedding Update: August

It feels like just yesterday I wrote our wedding update for June, but here we are 2 months later! The days are slow but the months have been flying by for me.

Lately, people have been asking me if wedding planning has been stressful, especially with the uncertainty of the future. But surprisingly to everyone, we’re not stressed at all. We’ve always enjoyed planning things together in the past such a trips or events, so wedding planning has been an enjoyable experience for us even during a pandemic.

That feeling is something that I’ve been trying to avoid throughout the wedding planning process, but I’m not gonna lie, it’s been harder than I expected.

Wedding Update: June

Hi all! I hope every single one of you is doing well during these unprecedented times (also, how many emails have you had to start with that? I must be on my 700th at this point). The past few months have been a whirlwind for me career wise as well as wedding wise. I accepted a dream job and couldn’t be happier in my new position. Meanwhile, wedding planning has taken a backseat amidst the uncertainty of the future due to the pandemic.

I feel like I have read every article that has come out about wedding planning during a pandemic, but everyone is on the same page in the sense that no one has any clue what the future holds. Our wedding is in the spring of 2021, and so far we are cautiously optimistic that it will still be held how we imagined it. However, even if changes have to be made, we have no problem shifting. What matters to us is getting married, and however it looks will be exactly how it was meant to be. Continue reading “Wedding Update: June”

Eco-Conscious Wedding Registry

Throughout my sustainability journey, I have always strived to make conscious and intentional choices when buying items. I have done no-buy months to reduce my carbon footprint and consumerism habits. But that became much more difficult throughout the wedding planning process. The wedding industry is heavily based in consumerism habits, and push that the more items you have before, during, and after your wedding, the better. Continue reading “Eco-Conscious Wedding Registry”
