Travel Tuesday: Yellowstone National Park

Watch my travel vlog here.

Growing up, our major family trips were across the U.S. My mother loves national parks and is passionate about visiting as many as she can, but her favorite has always been Yellowstone National Park. I visited for the first time when I was nine, and then again when I graduated high school. My favorite part was always the horseback trail rides, which took you through the wilderness into areas you couldn’t see from the road. I grew up riding horses, and it was always a passion of mine. Democratic Presidential Nominees: Stances on Climate Change Action Part 2

This article is a continuation of my previous blog post where I detailed where each democratic nominee stands on climate change. Since publishing part 1 of this article, Bill De Blaiso has since ended his 2020 race.

Please note: This article is not claiming that this is the only issue we should focus on in the presidential election. There are several others factors that must be considered with each candidate such as social justice, economic views, and other values. This article is just highlighting what is known about each candidate on their stance with addressing climate change.

Travel Tuesday: 24 Hours in New York City

Recently, I visited New York City for the first time since I was six years old. Why did it take me 18 years to go back to the city that never sleeps, which is only a four-hour drive from my D.C. home? Honestly, it was so close that I kept putting it off, knowing that it would always be there. But I finally made the drive (well, ride on the Greyhound), and jam-packed everything I wanted to see into 9 hours! Continue reading “Travel Tuesday: 24 Hours in New York City”

Thrift Treasures: Activewear

When I look up sustainable activewear, I lust after the beautiful pieces that would surely make me feel like I was living my best life of farmer’s market shopping, green smoothies, and yogi flows (Indigo Luna collections, be still my heart!). Sadly, my entry-level work salary does not give me much room to invest in these pieces, as much as I want to. Continue reading “Thrift Treasures: Activewear”

The Deep, [Plastic] Sea

There is no denying it: plastic is a people problem. Since the 1950’s, plastic has grown to encompass our lives, so much so that we don’t even realize the amount of plastic we consume on a daily basis. Did you get an iced coffee on your way to work today? Plastic. Did you buy a snack from the vending machine? Plastic. If you look at the tag on your clothing, does it say polyester? Plastic. It seems inescapable.

10 x 10 Challenge: Re-Loving my Wardrobe

As I continue on my journey to sustainability, I’ve had to take a hard look at my shopping habits, particularly in fashion. I started to do my research and discovered the hurtful impacts of fast fashion globally, particularly in impoverished countries. Fast fashion is detrimental from all aspects: economically, environmentally, and ethically. Read more about the issue here. Once I learned about the negative impacts, it was like taking the red pill in The Matrix; I couldn’t be ignorant to my choices as a consumer. Travel Tuesday: Toronto, Canada

Happy Travel Tuesday! This week, I will be sharing with you the highlights of my most recent trip to Toronto, Canada. Canada has been on my travel bucket list for the past few years, and Toronto did not disappoint! I can’t wait to go back to Canada and explore more of this beautiful country.

My boyfriend Andres (@aces_journals) and I rented a car and made the 10-hour trip up to Toronto from Washington, D.C., stopping along the way to see Niagara Falls. Coming from someone who has traveled solo most of the time, I loved having someone to talk and laugh with during the car ride, and the drive was surprisingly easy. The time spent travelling together is what I cherish the most from this trip, and I can’t wait to see where our next adventures take us. Continue reading “Travel Tuesday: Toronto, Canada”

My Favorite Eco-Blogs

In case you haven’t noticed, I am a firm believer in an eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyle. While I’m not perfect, I have been working towards making more conscious choices in fashion, food, and everyday actions. Because this lifestyle has just started to receive some recognition, I definitely needed some help along the way. I took to Instagram to find accounts and blogs that would inspire me, give me tips, and help me become more educated on the subject. Here are my favorite people that I have learned from, and have helped me with my steps toward sustainability. Continue reading “My Favorite Eco-Blogs”
