Even the best laid plans can go awry…particularly in a worldwide pandemic.
Our venue reached out to us to let us know that they are not allowing indoor events and only outdoor events of 25 people until at least March 1, 2021. With our planned reception date of April 10, 2021, we thought it was too risky. We wanted a reception that could include our extended family and friends (some who live abroad), and as we have watched the pandemic unfold around us with little expected to change by early next year, we decided that for everyone’s health and our personal mental and emotional wellbeing, to select a weekend in late November of 2021.
I’m not going to lie, I was pretty upset/overwhelmed the first couple of days as I tried to wrap my head around the new reality. Once we received the announcement from our venue, we moved quickly to nail down another date later in 2021 and contact our vendors. But as time has gone on, I’ve started to become more excited about our new plan of action. We’ve decided that we are still going to get married on our original date, and then have a dinner afterwards with the bridal party and close family.
While this is not the update I was expecting to have to write, we’re ready to move forward with our new plan! The postponement has been the most stress we’ve had in the wedding process, and I think it’s time for us to slow down again and just enjoy the ride. 220 days to go!
